Returning Student

Previously enrolled West Georgia Technical College, West Central Technical College, Carroll Technical Institute, and Troup Technical Institute students will fall into one of the categories listed below. Please identify the category into which you fall and complete the steps listed below.

 

Have Not Attended Classes in Two Semesters

If you have not attended WGTC in two semesters or more:

  1. Complete a returning student application. Choose returning student as the student type to avoid paying the $25 application fee. If you have questions regarding the admission process, please email admissions@westgatech.edu.
    If you have questions regarding the admission process, please email admissions@westgatech.edu.
  2. You may have to complete the Accuplacer exam if you do not have class credit to exempt the test.
  3. It is possible you will need to submit transcripts to complete your file.
  4. Provide verification of lawful presence and documentation of residency to qualify for in-state tuition.
  5. Receive acceptance letter and final instructions from the WGTC Admissions Office

 

Helpful Hints:

  • Complete a returning student application to avoid the $25 application fee that is required with the online application.
  • The application process for financial aid is separate.
  • A transcript is official if it is delivered to WGTC (by mail or in person) in the same sealed envelope it was placed in by the issuing institution. Transcripts can also be sent using an approved, secure electronic transcript sending service.
  • Students who graduated from a school outside the U.S. are required to submit an official evaluation of their transcript completed by an approved evaluation agency.

 

Have Not Attended Classes in More Than Five Years

Official transcripts and test scores are maintained on file for five years. Course history is maintained indefinitely.  If you have not attended WGTC in five or more years, you will need to complete the following steps.

  1. Complete a returning student application. Choose returning student as the student type to avoid paying the $25 application fee. If you have questions regarding the admission process, please email admissions@westgatech.edu.
  2. Submit an official high school or high school equivalency transcript.
  3. If you attended any other post-secondary college or school, submit an official transcript from each college attended.
  4. Provide verification of lawful presence and documentation of residency to qualify for in-state tuition.
  5. Your WGTC course history and other transcripts will be reviewed to determine whether you need to complete the Accuplacer placement test.
  6. Receive acceptance letter and final instructions from the WGTC Admissions Office

I Was a WGTC Student While Still in High School

If you were previously a Dual/Joint/ACCEL/ enrolled student with WGTC, you must submit an official copy of your completed high school transcript. You must also complete a new Application for Admission. (Application fee is waived.) Current verification of lawful presence is required to be eligible for in-state tuition.

  1. Complete a beginning student application. If you have questions regarding the admissions process, please email admissions@westgatech.edu.
  2. Submit an official high school or high school equivalency transcript.
  3. If you attended any other post-secondary college or school, submit an official transcript from each college attended.
  4. Provide verification of lawful presence and documentation of residency to qualify for in-state tuition.
