Cassandra Stigliano Named West Georgia Technical College’s 2025 EAGLE Winner

Cassandra StiglianoCARROLLTON, GA – West Georgia Technical College (WGTC) is excited to announce that Cassandra Stigliano has been named the 2025 Exceptional Adult Georgian in Literacy Education (EAGLE) winner. Stigliano will represent WGTC at the Dinah Culbreath Wayne EAGLE Leadership Institute in Atlanta on March 3-5, 2025.

The Technical College System of Georgia, through its Office of Adult Education, sponsors the annual Dinah Culbreath Wayne Exceptional Adult in Georgia in Literacy Education (EAGLE) Leadership Institute. The Leadership Institute recognizes and honors those students who have demonstrated superior achievement in Adult Education classes and programs.

Stigliano started high school equivalency (HSE) classes to benefit from the program’s in-class support, resources, and sense of community while striving to build a better future for herself and her son. Balancing long hours, extra classes, and online practice, she persevered and successfully earned her GED. Her dedication and determination paved the way for her to enroll at WGTC, where she is now pursuing a degree in Registered Nursing.

“Cassandra has always been determined to overcome difficulties and work hard in class,” said nominating instructor Amy Carlson. “She has overcome major obstacles to achieve her goals with determination and perseverance.”

EAGLE is the first statewide program in the nation that recognizes and rewards excellence among students enrolled in adult education programs. This student recognition program is designed to create greater awareness of educational opportunities that are available in local communities across the state and to foster greater involvement in lifelong learning pursuits.

Stigliano hopes to use her role as an EAGLE ambassador to show others what they’re capable of by encouraging them to earn their HSE. She also wants to connect with employers to help them see the value of hiring HSE graduates and supporting their career growth.
