This grant marks Honda’s second donation, following a $25,000 contribution in 2023, bringing their total support for the Spark the Flame campaign to $50,000.

“We are incredibly grateful to Honda for their continued generosity and support of this campaign,” said WGTC Foundation Executive Director Brittney Wells. “This $25,000 donation brings us one step closer to providing state-of-the-art welding equipment for our students.”

The new industrial building will introduce trade and tech programs to WGTC’s Murphy Campus, which currently lacks an industrial and manufacturing curriculum. The building will accommodate the Commercial Truck Driving, Electrical Lineworker, and Welding programs and feature a 40-booth welding lab, classrooms, and community space. The facility is expected to be complete next year, with classes beginning in the fall semester 2025.

The Spark the Flame campaign has garnered support from numerous businesses and organizations. Current supporters include Cliff Harris, Lewis Fire Protection, Southeastern Hose, Systems & Methods, Inc., the Warren and Ava Sewell Foundation, Inc., and Wayne Davis Concrete.

These contributions, along with Honda’s recent donation, bring the campaign closer to its fundraising goal and the realization of the new industrial building.
