WGTC Foundation Awards $44,801 in Scholarships

Carrollton, Ga., February 1, 2023 – The West Georgia Technical College Foundation awarded 67 students $44,801 in scholarships for the 2023 Spring semester. Each scholarship recipient received an award between $500 – $1,000 to help cover the costs associated with attending WGTC.

“On behalf of the WGTC Foundation, we want to congratulate all of our scholarship recipients,” said WGTC Foundation Executive Director Brittney Henderson. “We are excited to celebrate their accomplishments and have an impact on their educational journey at WGTC.”

Two of the scholarships awarded are new to the Foundation for Spring semester – The Kiwanis Club of LaGrange’s Frear Family Scholarship and The Mullins Mechanical Pillar Scholarship.

The Kiwanis Club of LaGrange’s Frear Family Scholarship is a $500 scholarship awarded to three students each semester. To be eligible for this scholarship, the student must be a veteran, first responder, or member of the military and a resident of Troup, Coweta, Heard, Meriwether, or Harris County. Once awarded, the student will receive the scholarship each semester until their program is finished.

The Mullins Mechanical Pillar Scholarship was established as part of Mullins Mechanical’s Pillar Level Sponsorship of the Foundation’s 2022 Black Tie and Boots event. The scholarship is awarded to five students each semester while funds last. Students must be enrolled at WGTC pursuing a certificate, diploma, or degree in one of the following areas: Industrial Systems Technology, Welding and Joining Technology, Engineering Technology, Accounting, Business Management, or Business Technology.

“We are so thankful to our donors for funding the scholarships that provide so many opportunities for our students,” Henderson said. “We would not be able to help our students without their support.”

Scholarships are offered each semester to students in various programs and locations at WGTC. For more information about scholarship opportunities available, please visit www.westgatech.edu/foundation-scholarship.
